If you’re like me, you’re still numb from the Sunday night game on June 22nd. Still in shock over our Pacers. Still thinking you might wake up from this nightmare.
The Pacers finished an incredible season with a heartbreaking Game 7 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on June 22nd, 2025. To say it was devastating is an understatement. As a lifelong fan, I’m at a loss for words to describe how it felt or how it still feels. Maybe one day I will be able to articulate all of this, but for now, the only thing I can muster is this:
Thank you.
Thank you, Pacers, for showing our city how to do it right. This playoff run was something we always knew was possible, but every game, this team gave us something to believe in. They won with humility and lost with grace. As a parent watching their child dream of a Pacers championship, I loved seeing the positive example they set for young fans everywhere. In an era when athletes often make headlines for the wrong reasons, this Pacers team consistently served as role models.
Thank you, Tyrese. What else can be said about Tyrese Haliburton that hasn’t been said already? The journey he took us on this season was incredible, and watching him go down in Game 7 will be a memory embedded in our minds forever. But reading his recent social media post continues to remind us why we fell in love with him in the first place. He will come back, and we know he will be better than ever.
Thank you, T.J. If you didn’t know T.J. McConnell before the 2025 playoffs, you certainly do now. He was simply fantastic and showed what heart, hustle, and hard work can accomplish. T.J. went from being undrafted in the NBA to delivering an unforgettable playoff performance for this team and this city.
Thank you, Myles. Thank you for showing us why loyalty and longevity matter. Ten years with this team, ten years of dedication, and ten years of being there for your fans through every high and low.
Thank you for bringing the legends back together. From Reggie Miller to Rik Smits, Travis Best to Mark Jackson, Jermaine O’Neal to the Davis brothers – watching so many former Pacers come together to support this team reminded us all of the rich tradition we’re part of.
Thank you, Pacers, for bringing our city to life. If you had the chance to get downtown at any point during this playoff run, you could feel Indianapolis come alive. The energy, love, and positivity that flowed through the city were truly something special to witness. This team brought us together, and we were behind you every step of the way.
Thank you for never letting us stop believing. Every single game, you fought until the final buzzer, and that relentless spirit became our own. This season featured so many core memories for my family because of this journey. It didn’t matter the opponent or the odds – our Pacers never backed down from any challenge, and for that unwavering heart, we are forever grateful.
So thank you, Indiana Pacers. Thank you for making dreams feel possible. Thank you for giving us something to believe in and allowing us to be part of your incredible journey. I heard Rick Carlisle on the radio recently, and he said this, “This team embodies what Indiana basketball is all about.”
He couldn’t be more right.
The season may be over, but the memories and the pride you’ve given us will last forever. We’ll be here when you’re ready to make another run.
Yes Cers!
