Top Five Free Places to Take Babies in Indianapolis

0

As a mom, I’m always looking for fun and free things to do with my children. Older children are a bit easier to entertain because they can use their imagination and creativity naturally, but infants are a different story. Keeping an infant entertained all day can be challenging, especially because their attention spans are short and most activities are not typically geared towards children as young as infants. Luckily, I’ve found several places that do a great job at catering to infant needs. And bonus, they’re free! Check out our top five free places to take your baby in and around Indianapolis.

Ms. Ashley’s Music Circle

On Wednesday mornings, Ms. Ashley and 25-30 babies, toddlers, and parents jam to music and movement geared for children ages 0-4 at Northwood Christian Church. This fun interactive meetup teaches parents that music is a great way to help brain development. You’ll love the tunes, tummy time, and rainbow parachute! Check out her Facebook group here for weekly event info.

Music & Movement Class

Holy Cross Lutheran Church offers a Music & Movement class for babies three years old and younger. This free class meets on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:00-10:00 am and is open to the community! Join in on the fun while your little ones enjoy playing on the equipment in Holy Cross’ Great Room.

Holliday Park Nature Center

While you’re at Holliday Park taking your babe on a walk in the stroller around the Ruins, make sure to check out the Holliday Park Nature Center. Yes, even little babies can enjoy the nature center, including The White River Water Table and The Music of the Wetlands, where you can listen to different nature sounds and animal noises. You can explore the center on Mondays through Saturdays from 9:00 am-5:00 pm (closed on Sundays).

Fishers Play Area

Located in the Cornerstone Lutheran Church, this Fishers play area is geared toward children of all ages. Play area times are Monday through Friday from 9:00 am-1:00 pm and 2:30-6:00 pm. Also, there is a designated area for babies three years old and younger. Also, make sure you take advantage of their storytime on Fridays! You can get updates from their Facebook page here.

Storytime and Arts Play

Our last free place to take your baby in Indianapolis is one I need to utilize more often. Various branches of the Indianapolis Public Library host storytimes and arts play for babies as young as infants! There are events geared specifically toward babies up to 24 months. Check out their events page, especially the one for April, to see all the happenings and which branch you can take advantage of some fun time with your baby.
