If I’m on my phone, I’m probably checking the calendar to see how much longer I have to finish my latest book before the discussion.

If I’m on my phone, I’m probably going through a slew of emails to make sure I’m not missing important dates from the school.

If I’m on my phone, I’m probably trying to stay connected to my friends across town.

If I’m on my phone, I’m probably checking when the kitty litter is going to ship so I can cross something else off my to-do list.

If I’m on my phone, I’m probably paying the utility or doctor’s bill.

If I’m on my phone, I’m probably catching up on the news articles, reels, and memes my mom sent me.

If I’m on my phone, I’m probably coordinating the next play date with friends from school.

If I’m on my phone, I’m probably deleting hundreds of promotional emails that I’ve signed up for at one point in life just to save a little bit on my first order on that site.

If I’m on my phone, I’m probably setting my multiple alarms to try to pull myself out of bed in the morning to get myself ready before the rest of the house wakes up.

If I’m on my phone, I’m probably adding the endless spirit days, due dates, and events shared in those emails from the school to our family calendar.

If I’m on my phone, I’m probably responding back to the vet about how the dog is doing after his recent visit.

If I’m on my phone, I’m probably signing up for summer camps (six months early…) so my children have a fun and enriching summer.

If I’m on my phone, I might be doomscrolling Instagram. But would you blame me for taking a few minutes to zone out?
