Get ready Indy Moms, Spring will be here soon! I mean, the 10 inches of snow this weekend doesn’t help, BUT- really- it will be here before we know it! I recently had the opportunity to meet with Abby McKinney, the owner of Ella Mae’s Boutique in Brownsburg, to get her expertise on the hottest trends this spring.
After having kids, my fashion focus has shifted away from myself and toward my children and less on myself. But, with Spring right around the corner, I thought I’d take advantage of impending warmer weather to try to bring some new life to my wardrobe (and maybe beat lingering winter blues with some shopping)! I was excited to be able to get out on my own to shop just for me, and use Abby’s expert advice to guide my retail therapy.
While there are tons of cute and flattering spring trends the year, we have narrowed it down to five that are prefect for all Indy Moms this season.
Florals
I was a little hesitant about the floral trend, but it doesn’t have to be as intimidating as I pictured it. This adorable ruffled sleeve top paired with distressed denim is perfect for a spring or summer day. The floral patterns are bold and bright but can easily be toned down with a solid pant, neutral pair of shoes, and even some Joanna Gaines-esque pair of earrings!
Maxi Dress
A maxi dress is my love language! The flowy material allows breathing room and is great at concealing it all {ahem, mom pooch}. Expecting Mamas, a Maxi Dress is perfect for that growing bump, too! You can also easily throw a jean jacket or cardigan over the top of the dress to make it versatile for all seasons.
Knotted Tee
When I walked into Ella Mae’s, Abby was wearing this exact shirt and I fell in love with it! The knotted tees gives an added element of fun while creating a more feminine touch to the tee instead of the boxy cut. It can be paired with white jeans or a pair of skinny jeans and flats or sandals to create a casual, but trendy, statement for your wardrobe. 
Ruffle Sleeve
The ruffle sleeve is a huge trend this spring season! An added flair to any top, the ruffle sleeve can be worn business casual or dressed down with distressed jeans.
Rompers
One you romper, you won’t go back! This was one trend I wasn’t sure I could get sold on. However, I now have multiple rompers and it is my favorite warm weather apparel item. Long sleeved, short sleeved, sleeveless, no sleeves – rompers are perfect for the warmer weather and you can’t beat the comfort of the one piece clothing, either!
Think Spring, Indy Moms! Think it hard! Now go treat yourself to at least one item that you can put in your closet and feel excited about as soon as the warm weather and sunshine decide to stick around.
