January 4th

Last Day of Winterlights at Newfields

Winterlights at Newfields has become a tradition for my family and you still have a chance to see them sparkle. Winterlights features over a million and a half lights glittering in The Garden, and you have to see it in person because photos and videos do not do it justice!


January 5th

Minecraft Club at Indianapolis Public Library – Central Library Branch

Head to the Central Library Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library for Minecraft Club! From 5:30-7:30 pm, kids ages seven and up are invited to stop by to mine, build, and interact with fellow Minecrafters using the library’s laptops or iPads. Jump into their premade world or create one entirely of your own! Children under 12 need to bring an adult.


January 6th

Indiana Pacers versus Cleveland Cavaliers

Our hometown Indiana Pacers are playing the Cleveland Cavaliers on January 6th, so come cheer them on! It’s a great chance to get out of the house during the winter. And what better way than to check out a game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse!


January 8th

Stay And Play at the Indiana State Museum

Head to the Indiana State Museum on January 8th from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm for a self-led play experience in Firefly Landing where young children and their caregivers participate in open-ended play and family learning. These two-hour sessions provide a space to explore a variety of tools and activities while also building connections with other families. The program changes every month and includes sensory play, STEAM activities, music and movement. Register here.  


January 10th

Mickey and Minnie Ice Cream Party at Skateland

Skateland in Indianapolis offers multiple ways to come skate with them, including the Mickey and Minnie Ice Cream Party. From 12:30 to 3:00 pm, you get to meet and greet with Mickey and Minnie, enjoy a dance party, play fun games, and of course, skate! See more information on prices on the website.


January 10th-11th

Greater Indianapolis Garage Sale & Marketplace

The Indianapolis Garage Sale will be held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, and it needs to be, because this event is HUGE. From the event website, “Indy’s bargain hunter’s paradise is back with hundreds of booths in two pavilions, offering a plethora of items at unbelievable rock bottom prices.”


January 13th

Free Movie Series at Schrott Center for the Arts

The Schrott Center for the Arts is hosting a fun movie for their January Free Movie Series – Trolls! After the Bergens invade Troll Village, Poppy, the happiest Troll ever born, and the curmudgeonly Branch set off on a journey to rescue her friends. This movie screening is free and open to the public. No ticket is required.


 

January 16th

KPop: Demon Hunters Painting at uPaint Pottery Studio

At multiple uPaint Pottery Studio locations, get ready to Take Down a night full of painting fun! They are cranking up the K-Pop hits to strengthen the Honmoon in a one-of-a-kind event inspired by the hit movie KPop: Demon Hunters. Register here – registrations includes themed snacks, good vibes, and a playlist that will have you dancing in your seat! The cost is $10 plus the pottery of your choice.


January 17th

Indy Fuel versus Kalamazoo Wings

As wise Jedi Master Yoda once said “Back, Star Wars Night is!” Join the Fuel as they take on the dark side, the Kalamazoo Wings, for fan favorite Star Wars Night! Meet characters on the concourse and cheer on our Indy Fuel.


January 17th

Harlem Globetrotters

The Harlem Globetrotters are celebrating one hundred years! Can you believe it? The Harlem Globetrotters 100 Years Tour is coming to Indy on January 17th at Gainbridge Fieldhouse! My son loves going to see the Harlem Globetrotters, because they are very entertaining with their basketball skills and cool tricks. The game is at 2:00 pm.

Devour Indy Begins

With more than 100 restaurants participating, Devour Indy begins on January 19th and ends February 1st. Check out their website for a full list of participating restaurants!


January 21st-25th

Disney On Ice Presents Mickey’s Search Party

I might be more excited about this than my kids – Disney on Ice is coming to Indy! Disney on Ice Presents Mickey’s Search Party will be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse from January 21st-25th. From the event website, “Join Mickey Mouse and his friends at Disney On Ice presents Mickey’s Search Party, an adventure filled with world-class skating, high-flying acrobatics and unexpected stunts! Look for clues in the search for Tinker Bell through immersive, fantastic worlds. Explore the colorful spirit realm of Coco, sail away with Moana as she bravely saves her island, see Belle in the sky as the enchanted chandelier comes to life, and sing-along with Elsa in the icy world of Frozen. Make memories during Aladdin, Toy Story and The Little Mermaid as the search party becomes an all-out celebration!”

Indy Ignite versus Omaha Supernovas

Indy Ignite is bringing the heat back to Central Indiana! They will take on the Omaha Supernovas on January 24th at 7:00 pm. Experience the thrill of women’s professional volleyball live at the Fishers Event Center. Don’t miss your chance to be part of the action.


January 31st

Winter Craft Carnival at Carmel Clay Public Library

Show off your crafting talent with various crafts and activities spread throughout Carmel Clay Public Library’s Community Room at the Winter Craft Carnival. This event is open to all ages, and any level of crafting experience is welcome. No registration required!
