May the Fourth Be With You: Ideas to Make May 4th Out of This World!

0

Luke, I am your Father… May the Fourth be with you. May the 4th, otherwise known as Star Wars Day, is fast approaching and this boy house of mine is gearing up for an intergalactic family fun day. I am always looking for an excuse to make some memories on a special day and with my kiddos. May the Fourth is here and I am ready. I want to help you be ready too.

Here are some ideas you can do with your family to celebrate this day and have some fun:

Lightsabers!

If your family doesn’t already have some of these iconic Jedi weapons, you can make them. If you are worried about your kids getting hurt or your nice home getting destroyed with the hard plastic lightsabers they sell in stores (BTW, I have absolutely nothing nice in my house anymore due to having busy boys), then go to the dollar store or search your garage for some pool noodles, duct tape, and electrical tape and make some! Your little Jedis can play games like Lightsaber Tag, or just have fun wielding their new weapons.

Watch the movies with your kids!

There are two ways to tackle all of the films- in the order they were released or in order of chronological events.  Note that this will take longer than a day, so take your time and enjoy the ride. If you want to watch it in order of chronological events, which makes sense to many of us non-Star Wars aficionados, your marathon should look like this:

  • Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
  • Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
  • Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
  • Solo: A Star Wars Story (optional)
  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (optional)
  • Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
  • Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
  • Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
  • Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
  • Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi
  • Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
Turn the lights out

Have a cosmic glow stick bath with some fun Star Wars-themed music in the background. Or just turn the lights out, have some glow sticks and act out the movies with the fun Star Wars music playing in the background. The house favorite I suggest is this soundtrack. We have literally spent hours playing and acting out the movies to this track.

Craft it up

Craft it up with some Star Wars-themed craft Ideas. I love this page with all the need to know Star Wars craft ideas from coloring pages to slime and even a Yoda sculpture.

Food

Serve it up like you are living in the Cantina on Mos Eisley! Enjoy chocolate-covered pretzel lightsabers, fun-colored Yoda milk, and finger sandwiches fit for Jabba the Hut himself. You can find some super cute snack ideas here.

Have fun dressing up!

Jedi costumes are easy to make and you can even make it a costume contest with the whole family. Who can dress up like the best Jedi in under 10 minutes? The winner gets to pick the next activity.

Whatever you do on this epic day just have fun, make a mess and make memories. This day is not to stress us moms out but maybe give us something exciting to do that will create memories for years to come. These Ideas will make May 4th out of this world! May the Force be with you.
