Indianapolis Staycation- Bottleworks District

0

Work from home and e-Learning driving you crazy this year? Do you have less than 24 hours to escape the madness? I’ve got the perfect staycation idea for you! The Bottleworks District!

My husband and I got away recently and spent the night at the new Bottleworks hotel in downtown Indianapolis. Between work schedules, chasing a threenager, and renovating our home we hadn’t really looked each other in the eyes and had a conversation in several months. Bottleworks was close to home and made for a perfect, quick getaway. We packed phone chargers and a change of clothes, had a family member drop us off, and said peace out to our three-year-old for the night.

We chose to stay on the second floor, for our staycation, which has been beautifully restored from its original purpose, the largest Coca-Cola bottling plant in the world, and spent a good part of the night roaming the halls and stairwells of the hotel taking the beauty of everything in. Our room featured everything a tired parent appreciates. We enjoyed a small minibar featuring local drinks and snacks, a TV that I didn’t have to play Cocomelon on, a king bed (no toddler feet in my face), and a waterfall shower with no time limit. I know, I know, sounds like a dream right? I’ve found that I’m easy to please while in the throes of toddler parenting.

The hotel’s location is within walking distance to lots of great dinner options on Mass Ave, including the new Garage Food Hall, another piece of the Bottleworks District project. You also have the option for delivery/carryout or a small room service menu through the hotel. We were visiting on a mild day in February so we chose to walk to FortyFive Degrees and stopped for a bottle to take back to the room with us from Peace Water Winery.

Also, how have I not known about ClusterTruck?! We ordered it for breakfast in the morning and it is now my favorite thing. Remember how I mentioned I’m easy to please? To top our stay off, I talked my husband into pedicures at The W Nail Bar, which is attached to the hotel, and we headed back to reality.

If you haven’t been to the area lately, it’s also worth checking out for the day or an evening. Catch a movie at Living Room Theaters or a bite to eat at The Garage Food Hall. With limited capacity guidelines, The Garage does fill up quickly and it’s not uncommon to see a line of people waiting out the door, you’ve been warned. Sunday afternoon has been the best time we’ve found to spread out and enjoy lunch.

We’re excited to try out the rest that Bottleworks district has to offer in the coming year, restaurants and businesses are being added as they expand so make sure to check it out for a future staycation!
