Kids are hard on clothes. And shoes. And toys. And pretty much everything. Between staining, outgrowing, and losing things, it’s hard to keep our 22-month-old clothed and entertained without breaking the bank. {Insert exasperated sigh}.
After insisting for the first couple months of his life that everything had to be new, I quickly learned that gently used (and sometimes new!) for a fraction of the price is the way to go. I tried out different garage sale websites, consignment shops, and sales around town before stumbling upon my favorite place to outfit my kiddo, Just Between Friends (JBF).
Shoppers can find children’s clothing (infant through teen sizes), maternity clothing, infant care items, kid furnishings, toys and play equipment, books, DVDs, games, arts and crafts, strollers and car seats, and sporting goods for 50-90% off of retail prices. Everything is neatly organized and fairly priced, and I’m always especially impressed with the helpfulness of the volunteers.
After trying many other similar sales, the things that made Just Between Friends stand out included: an equal amount of boy’s and girl’s clothing (can I get an Amen from the boy moms?!), volunteers who were happy to be there, and an overall feel that other shoppers were there to get a good deal but were not cut throat to obtain it. Plus, shoppers can also donate a small amount at the register to benefit local families who are in need.
The JBF fall event takes place August 10-13 at The Hamilton County Fairgrounds. Shoppers can find the schedule of events and directions here. If you’re interested in selling items at future events, check out the details here. Happy bargain shopping!
