Connor Prarie is my favorite. I love that my Conner Prairie membership gives me more than memberships worth every single year. Before you think it, it is NOT just because I am a history teacher in high school in the United States! Conner Prairie is my favorite because, in addition to being an interactive history museum, it has AMAZING programs and activities for your family to enjoy all year long. My first memory of Conner Prairie is of going with my family in my youth, and now, as a mom to my own family, Conner Prairie continues to be my favorite.

Seasonal Events:
Conner Prairie’s best-known seasonal program is probably Symphony on the Prairie. Whether it’s for a date night or an entire family outing, the ability to experience live music in such an exquisite setting is an amazing opportunity in our community. From the family-friendly atmosphere (playground and concessions available!) to the ability to bring your own food and beverages (perfect for those picky-eating kids and adults!) Symphony on the Prairie provides an affordable date or family night out.
Nothing says getting into the holiday spirit, like attending seasonal events like Headless Horseman and Merry Prairie. Conner Prairie has worked hard over the years to expand the offerings of these family-friendly activities, and it is the perfect way to surround your family in the spirit of the seasons. Some of our favorite family and date night memories are thanks to an amazing experience at Conner Prairie. Bonus is the opportunity to spend time outdoors at a time of year when we all need a bit more fresh air than we are likely getting! Conner Prairie is my favorite to add to the holiday merriment.
Dedication to Authentic History and Storytelling:
Conner Prairie is dedicated to helping history come alive and placing a great emphasis on authenticity in the stories it tells. It is also dedicated to expanding the diversity of those whose stories it tells. A trip to Prairie Town will be both immersive and educational and will provide real-time interaction with actors representing historical characters. Providing the opportunity for modern citizens to learn about history in such an interactive and explorative nature is another reason why Conner Prairie is my favorite.
Youth Program:
One of the lesser-known reasons why Conner Prairie is my favorite is its amazing youth program. Our oldest has been a part of the program for two years, and we continue to be truly amazed at the growth and development she’s experienced due to her involvement in the program. Conner Prairie is fully dedicated to the safety and development of their youth volunteers. Watching her learn social and executive skills through her training and volunteering has been incredible to watch as a parent. The youth program leaders are top-notch and are amazing at helping the youth feel safe and supported in their posts. Any program in which a youth enthusiastically completes a minimum of 120 hours a year as a volunteer must be doing something right.
Conner Prairie continues to be my favorite for all of these reasons and more. If you haven’t checked it out yet, I highly encourage you to do so this season. I am confident you will see why!
