National Taco Day: The Best Tacos in the City to Celebrate

0

Listen up friends, pay close attention because this may be the most important thing you read all week… IT’S NATIONAL TACO DAY! Look, we can all agree this year has been kind of a mess, but at least we will always have tacos right? Skip cooking tonight mama, support a local business, and grab some tacos from one of the best tacos in the city!

Revolucion (1132 Prospect St)- Two words, Tiki Bar. Whenever we eat here, it feels like we are on a tropical vacation. You are going to want to order any of the street tacos, my personal favorite are the shrimp tacos, and a spicy margarita (trust me). To be honest, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, even the burgers, yes their burgers are delicious. Plenty of outdoor seating for a Covid- friendly date night (21 and over) or carry out available.

La Parada (1642 E New York St)- La Parada is a city favorite and when you do a search for “best Mexican in Indianapolis,” La Parada is on every single list. Another great place for street tacos. The steak tacos are my favorite here, but they also have options like lengua (tongue) and tripe (intestine) for the foodies. Beyond tacos, their burritos are as big as your head and the menu is very budget-friendly. They added plenty of outdoor seating and offer carry out.

Paco’s Taqueria (4390 N Keystone Ave and 5202 E Thompson Rd St 150)- I was craving tacos the other day for lunch (let’s be honest, when are we not craving tacos), ordered one of just about every taco they had, and I was very happy with that decision. They have all your standards, the al pastor is my favorite, they also have the tripe and lengua options for you adventurous eaters. Next time, I may just have to order one of their Taco Boxes, you read that right, Taco Box. You can order directly from their website for pickup or they offer delivery through several delivery services.

Salty Cowboy (55 E Oak St. Zionsville)- This cute little house in the heart of Zionsville has some of the best tacos and margaritas. Not your average tacos, but don’t let the taco combos scare you away, they are delicious. Taco options like their “Cajun Oink” with pulled pork, agave beer BBQ, queso, and pico de gallo. Or the “Angry Jalapeño” with mojo chicken, pickled jalapeño, queso fresco, habanero crema, and cilantro. Ordering guacamole is a must if you are dining in, they make it right at your table. They have online ordering for pick up and you can order a margarita kit to go!

Roscoes Tacos (642 S Madison Ave, Greenwood)- Originally Roscoe’s was a fatality of the pandemic and had to close its doors, but decided to re-open it’s Greenwood location. Fans of the restaurant couldn’t let this family-owned south side gem go and it is not hard to see why the minute you walk through the door. The tacos are simple but don’t let that fool you. Make sure you add one of their signature house-made sauces: Cincinnati City Slicker, Texas Brush Fire, Too Darn Hot, Smokin’, Tonsillectomy, or Lava. Then top it off with one of their famous Cowboy Cookies. Right now, they are offering takeout and limited dine in.

Gil tacos (1665 S Lynhurst Dr.)- Gil’s is often referred to as a “hidden gem” and the “best taco spot in Indy.” Not only are prices super reasonable (all tacos around $2.50), but they are all super delicious. They offer 14 different kinds of tacos, the al pastor and carne asada tacos are the big winners here, but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The location is small with just a few dine-in tables, but you can call ahead for pick-up or they deliver through several delivery services.

Happy Taco Day!
