Black History Month Celebration at The Children’s Museum

From 4:00-8:00 pm on February 1st, head to The Children’s Museum to “celebrate Black heritage and achievements in history, science, art and music through storytelling, special activities, and performances.” To see the full event lineup – including the Ruby Bridges Sound and Light Show – check out the event webpage.

Animal Folklore and the Groundhog at Cool Creek

Let’s celebrate this soothsayer of weather. Groundhog Day is coming. Can our best weather equipment outsmart Mother Nature? Click here to register for February 1st at 11:00 am, where you and your littles will test your knowledge, discover what animals do during the winter, and make your prediction the day before the groundhog comes out.

Toddler Trek at Overley-Worman Park

Grab your winter coats and head to Overley-Worman Park for Toddler Trek! Best for kids five years and younger, Toddler Trek helps you and your kiddos get out of the house and experience nature, which has numerous benefits for your child’s physical and emotional well-being. And the event is only one hour, from 10:00-11:00 am.

Winter on the Prairie at Conner Prairie

Thursdays through Sundays during the month of February, Conner Prairie is hosting Winter on the Prairie! “Winter on the Prairie is a one-of-a-kind way to experience everything Conner Prairie has to offer. Grab your boots and mittens as you journey across acres of nature to explore. Discover the tranquility and beauty that can only be found after a fresh snow. Then, join the residents of Prairietown and warm up by the hearth as you take in the smells of the food on the fire.”

Valentine’s Day For All at Nickel Plate

These Valentine’s Day celebrations will make you swoon at Nickel Plate Arts! Valentine’s Day For All – from February 1st through the month of February – has crafts, poetry, dessert, and a Galentine’s Day brunch. Check out the link for the full rundown.

My Punny Valentine Trail at Eagle Creek Park

This fun, unique event is available for you and your family to enjoy on February 2nd-19th. My Punny Valentine Trail at Eagle Creek Park will be set up along Pin Oak Trail, where you can walk through and seek over 30 nature valentine puns, quips, and play on words to help you celebrate. Bundle up and prepare to laugh!

Member Preview for Emotions at Play at the Children’s Museum

The Children’s Museum is hosting a members only preview for the upcoming Emotions At Play with Pixar’s Inside Out exhibit on February 2nd and 3rd. Visitors young and old can learn the important roles that emotions, memory, and imagination play in our everyday lives. This exhibit focuses on the five core emotions featured in the film – Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear. Explore how we express our emotions and recognize the emotions of others.


February 3rd & 4th

Shen Yun Performing Arts at Clowes Memorial Hall

Shen Yun presents colorful and exhilarating performances of classical Chinese dance and music, and they will be in Indianapolis on February 3rd and 4th. From the event website, “A performance by this company is a true representation of traditional Chinese culture as it once was: a study in grace, wisdom, and the virtues distilled from the five millennia of Chinese civilization.” You won’t want to miss it! Monster Jam at Lucas Oil Stadium

Vroom, vroom! Monster Jam is coming to Lucas Oil Stadium on February 3rd at 7:00 pm and February 4th at 3:00 pm. At the event, you will witness world-class driver athletes and the most recognizable trucks tear up the dirt and compete in intense competitions of speed and skill. Pokémon League at Books & Brews in Brownsburg

Books & Brews in Brownsburg is hosting their Pokémon League on February 4th from 6:00-8:00 pm. All ages and experience levels are welcome on the first and third Sunday of each month – have fun battling!


February 6th

The Stinky Cheese Man & Other Fairly Stupid Tales at Clowes Memorial Hall

Best title ever, right? This show will elicit more giggles than what I did typing this out. Get your tickets today for The Stinky Cheese Man & Other Fairly Stupid Tales at February 6th at 6:30 pm. Recommended for grades 1-3, “The Stinky Cheese Man & Other Fairly Stupid Tales, both as a book and stage play, shares with its audience the joys of making stories your own and creating new possibilities for the familiar.”


February 10th

Indy Fuel Wizard Night

Grab your wand for a magical evening for Wizard Night with the Indy Fuel. Bring a pair of new packaged socks to toss on the ice after the Fuel score the first goal. All collected socks will be donated! Doors will open at 6:00 pm. Check out their full schedule as well to see more than one game in February.


February 10th

Hoot and Heart at Painting with a Twist

Hoot and Heart is a fun, Valentine’s Day themed painting class on February 10th from 12:00-2:00 pm at Painting with a Twist in Indianapolis. This class is designed for kids with simple, fun art. And what’s cuter than a pink owl holding a heart? This class is for kids eight years old and up, and if both parents want to join, you’ll have to purchase a separate seat.

Recycled Valentines at Garfield Conservatory

“Show your love for our planet while showing your love for others, by making Valentine’s cards from recycled materials.” Registration for Recycled Valentines at Garfield Conservatory is required, and there only a few spots open!


February 14th

Dancing with the Stars Live

See the DWTS ballroom brought to life onstage for Dancing with the Stars Live! You will get to see some of your favorite Dancing with the Stars pros, PLUS special guest stars! “With dazzling routines in every style, jaw-dropping talent, and non-stop entertainment, it’s sure to be an unforgettable night full of all the magic of the TV show and more!” Get your tickets here.


February 15th

Tadpole Time at McCloud Nature Park

Have you ever wondered what sorts of creatures roamed our state in eons past? Get your hands dirty with a Park Naturalist as we explore different ways scientists learn about prehistoric life at Tadpole Time: Fossil Hunters at McCloud Nature Park. This class is recommended for kids aged 2-7 and a parent/guardian need to be present with the child. Registration is required by February 8th, and you can register here.

Geofest at the Indiana State Museum

There is something exciting for everyone to explore at the 21st Annual Geofest at the Indiana State Museum. There are three days and three floors of “rock, mineral, and fossil vendors along with hands-on activities and community partner displays.”

February 24th

Engineers Day at the Children’s Museum

On Saturday, February 24th, head to the Children’s Museum for Engineers Day! It’s a day of exploration and, you guessed it, engineering. Local engineers will lead hands-on activities involving science and problem solving. Free for members or museum admission.

PAW Patrol Live! at Old National Centre

Get your tickets now for PAW Patrol Live! “The Great Pirate Adventure” at Old National Centre on Saturday, February 24th. It’s Pirate Day in Adventure Bay, and Mayor Goodway is getting ready for a big celebration. But first, Ryder and his team of pirate pups must rescue Cap’n Turbot from a mysterious cavern. The pups will need all paws on deck for this pirate adventure, including some help from the newest pup … Tracker!


February 24th

Winter Blast at Clay Terrace

Winter fun for the whole family! Clay Terrace’s Winter Blast will be located on the Village Green from 11:00 am-2:00 pm on February 24th. The event will include trackless train rides, a meet and greet with Elsa and Olaf, a giant snow globe, and more. There will even be ice sculptures, carved live.

Indiana Pacers versus Dallas Mavericks

Our beloved Indiana Pacers are taking on the Dallas Mavericks at Gainbridge Fieldhouse at February 25th at 5:00 pm. Have a fun outing with the family in downtown Indianapolis!


February 25th

Sensory Skate Night at Carter Green

Sensory Skate Night at the Ice at Carter Green is an annual tradition, allowing for a sensory-friendly skate session on February 25th from 5:00-7:00 pm. This event is geared toward children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, or any special needs children. And the best part – it’s FREE.

Andrea is a SAHM and Project Manager for Indianapolis Moms. She lives in Noblesville with her husband Dan and their two kids, Jonathan and Sarah. They are involved at Congregation Beth-El Zedeck. You can usually see her with a cup of coffee in her hand and a smile on her face. Unless she doesn’t have said coffee. Then she is frowning and running towards her Keurig. Andrea is thrilled to be involved with IM as she goes through motherhood! She loves being able to bond with other parents. Other interests include reading, wine tasting, and working out on her spin bike to stay sane.
