November 28, 2017
In its sixth year, GivingTuesday will return on November 28, 2017, in response to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. GivingTuesday is an opportunity for non-profit organizations to simultaneously raise their community profile and annual contributions. Numerous organizations throughout the Indianapolis area utilize this fundraising tool. To find all participating organizations locally, nationally and internationally visit www.givingtuesday.org.
Story Time
GivingTuesday is also a chance for organizations to share the stories of their staff, board, and beneficiaries. These stories shared through social media act as an inspiration to give, as well as an education tool. This is an opportunity to grab your attention and pull at your heartstrings. On the rare occasion, this also has the power to create a giving frenzy or “ice-bucket” phenomenon. Leading up to and on November 28, I hope you see many of these examples popping up on your social media accounts.
The Motto Is
Inspiration to give can come from anywhere. As an individual donor, I love GivingTuesday due to the connection I feel to the organizations I support. I have the chance to see photos of those my donation affects and consequently read their stories. What a perfect way to warm my heart and cheer my soul, and remind me that I don’t have to wait for GivingTuesday: there are things we can all be doing year round to make a difference!
