Kids Night Out at YMCA
Up first on our list of April family events is Kids Night Out at your local YMCA! Parents, this event is perfect to allow yourself a night out on the town and the kids will be having fun too. Program activities include swimming, gym play, arts and crafts, and kid friendly movies. Dinner and snacks provided. Prices and details vary with each YMCA. Call your local YMCA for more details and date information.

xZOOberance Spring Festival at the Indianapolis Zoo
Say goodbye to winter and hello to spring at the xZOOberance Spring Festival at the Indianapolis Zoo! From noon to 4:00 pm on select event days, the Bicentennial Pavilion will be buzzing with spring-centric activities. Meet chickens and goats, dance along to a live DJ, sing karaoke, participate in animal-pose yoga and more!

Be Like Blippi Tour at Clowes Memorial Hall
The Be Like Blippi Tour is heading to Clowes Memorial Hall on April 1st at 6:00 pm and is packed with high-energy music and surprises, featuring fan-favorite songs like “The Excavator Song,” “Monster Truck,” “Dino Dance,” and “Curious Like Me.” Meekah joins Blippi onstage with their signature mix of play, learning, and exploration. Families can get curious together while singing, laughing, and dancing along during this unforgettable adventure full of fun and discovery.

Storytime at the Glendale Branch of the Indy Public Library
Storytime at Glendale is the perfect way to get out of the house with your little one! Located at the Glendale Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library, “Children ages 2-4 and their caregivers are invited for stories, fingerplays, crafts, and activities.” Registration is not required to attend. April 1st-5th
Gnome Away From Home at the Garfield Conservatory
This spring break garden gnomes from far and wide will gather at the Conservatory during the Gnome Away From Home event, ending on April 5th. See this whimsical display of garden gnomes and try to spot them all! This year’s theme is “Metro-Gnomes: A Musical Tribute,” allowing visitors to enjoy the gnomes’ take on popular music genres. Contact the staff for information about loaning a gnome to be part of the display.

First Thursday Nights at the Children’s Museum
We love highlighting free activities, and this is a good one! On First Thursday Nights, you can pay $6 per person to visit either the museum with their amazing Dinosphere exhibit or the Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience. And your ticket also includes access to Ask the Experts Night. This is only between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00 pm, the perfect after-hours time for families! Get your First Thursday tickets here.

First Free Thursdays at Newfields
Newfields offers special FREE admission on the first Thursday of every month. Head over during their hours to explore the grounds and enjoy all that the Indianapolis Museum of Art has to offer. Keep an eye out for additional free admission days throughout the year.

The Cat in the Hat at Clowe’s Memorial Hall
Two bored kids (This was way before iPads). One rainy day (We’ve all had a few of those) And one crazy cat wearing a red-striped hat (Where was the background check for that babysitter?!) The Cat in the Hat is coming to Clowe’s Memorial Hall on April 2nd at 6:00 pm and you can get your tickets and information here.

Spring Book Sale at the Carmel Clay Public Library
Discover great bargains on used books (and more) at the Spring Book Sale at the Carmel Clay Public Library. Just $10 for a bag of books! Presented by the CCPL Foundation Friends. On April 3rd, you can shop from 9:00 am-5:00 pm and on April 4th, shop from 9:00 am-1:00 pm.
April 4th
Fan Appreciation Night with Indy Fuel versus Kalamazoo Wings
Our Indy Fuel, a premier minor league ice hockey team in the ECHL, will be playing the Kalamazoo Wings on April 4th at 4:00 pm at the Fishers Event Center. And that night is also Fan Appreciation Night! Get there early to party on the plaza at their fan fest and snag a Fuel bobblehead on your way in. Stick around after the game as they auction off their season long home jerseys in section 108. You can grab your tickets here!

Indianapolis Indians versus Louisville Bats
Baseball is BACK for the season so you and your family should head to Victory Field on April 7th as our Indianapolis Indians face off against the Louisville Bats.

Small Wonders: Growing a Rainbow at the Indiana State Museum
Geared toward preschoolers, Small Wonders: Growing a Rainbow at the Indiana State Museum, allows your child to learn, play and discover in the museum during this hour-long class. Combine your love of art with the science of gardening in this colorful program from 10:00 – 11:00 am.

Pajama Rama at the Cool Creek Nature Center
Put on your jammies, grab your favorite stuffed animal, and head to Pajama Rama at the Cool Creek Nature Center on April 10th. Geared toward kids aged 1-8 years old, you will love the music educator from Moriah Music, who will lead you in songs and stories about some of your favorite animals. Make sure to register at the website!

Kids Eat Free Sunday at Victory Field
The Indianapolis Indians play the Louisville Bats on Sunday, April 12th and you can experience the popular Kids Eat Free Sundays at Victory Field! All children 14 and under receive a free hot dog, bag of chips and Capri Sun® juice pouch with price of admission.

Indy Ignite vs Dallas Pulse & IU vs Purdue Spring Match
Our Indy Ignite, the first and only professional volleyball team in Indianapolis, are playing the Dallas Pulse on April 19th at 6:00 pm at the Fishers Event Center. But that’s not all! A ticket to this match gets you into the IU vs. Purdue Spring Volleyball Match as well. Children two and under are free with an accompanying adult ticket but must sit on a lap.

Fairyville: Energizing the Earth at Noblesville Creates
Fairyville: Energizing the Earth at Noblesville Creates (formerly known as Nickel Plate Arts) is an adorable event for the whole family. During this free event, drink tea with a special Fairy guest, shop on the Noblesville Historic Downtown Square, watch the parade, enjoy drinks, food, and a variety of high-end circus acts.

Arbor Day Giveaway at Greenwood City Center
Arbor Day at Greenwood City Center is not necessarily a family event, but it does prompt a fun family activity you could do together to celebrate Arbor Day. The city of Greenwood is giving away 1,000 trees on Arbor Day April 24th from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The following trees will be available at the Greenwood City Center and Craig Park Shelter until they’re all gone: Pecan, Redbud, River Birch, Black Cherry, and Silver Maple.

Family Creek Exploration at Holliday Park
Head outside for Family Creek Exploration at Holliday Park on April 25th at 1:30 pm! “Holliday Park has ponds and creeks teeming with wildlife. Participants will have loads of fun getting wet and muddy exploring the creatures that live in these wet places. A naturalist will help you identify what you find. Nets and collecting tubs provided. Wear old shoes and clothes that can get dirty.”
