Hello, fellow Indy moms! I’m Marianne. I’m new to the Indianapolis Moms group, and I’m so happy to now be a part of the family! I’m a Pharmaceutical Marketer by day (& sometimes night), dog-mom/nurse (geriatric dogs, amiright???), a Mommy to two adorable babies (Axel, four years old, and Campbell, seven months old), and a wife to my high-school sweetheart, Jordan. My family lives in Geist with our Cairn Terrier/Pekingese, Roxie, and muppet dog (aka Australian Labradoodle), Ernie Banks. I am openly addicted to Target, iced coffee, HGTV, & Amazon Prime. You can always find me with a drink or snack in hand!
I’m originally from the small town of Lapel, Indiana (you know, the exit right past Hamilton Town Center? It’s also near Bonge’s if that rings a bell for anyone), but have been living in Indianapolis since attending Butler University (Go Bulldogs!). My husband and I got married in 2008, and I graduated from Butler in 2011. I’ve been working in Pharmaceutical Marketing since graduating but landed my dream job at Eli Lilly in 2016. While still on maternity leave with Axel, I got a call asking for me to come in for an interview — I was mentally willing the sleeping baby in my lap to STAY ASLEEP while I took the call. Long story short, I accepted a new role with Lilly the week before I returned to office, put in my notice the day I was back, and started the next step in my career three weeks later!
Now, four years in, I’ve just returned to the “office” (which, thanks to social distancing, happens to be our spare bedroom) after spending nearly six months at home with my family once Campbell was born. During my “short-term assignment” as a stay-at-home mom, I picked up a new fun hobby: blogging! Talking to and getting advice from other moms was so helpful to me as a new mom and beyond, so I thought joining the Indianapolis Moms would be a great opportunity to share from my perspective while getting to join a new tribe of awesome mamas. It turns out I was right! Reflecting on and writing about life as a mom is such a special experience. These babies are EVERYTHING to me, and it isn’t always easy to pause and write about all of the fun. Contributing to the Indy Moms gives me a reason to do just that. Plus, I’ve made so many new friends and learned so much from this group already! Thanks for following along while I navigate the many facets of motherhood!
