Holiday Activities for the Busy Mom

0

Mamas, I have a confession to make. Now, please don’t go and call the authorities on me. Ok, this is hard to say, but I don’t have time for, nor do I like doing extravagant holiday activities with my children. Whew, that feels good to get off my chest. Mom guilt around this crime against motherhood is terrible around the holidays (thank you, social media). I see other moms doing all the Pinterest/Instagram-worthy holiday activities and think, “how in the hell do people have time for this”?! Not only do I not have time for the activity, but thinking about the cleanup alone exhausts me to no end.

This is for the other moms who are in the I ain’t got no time club. I wanted to help you out and give you some easy holiday activities from one busy mom to another. These activities are quick and easy but can still create some core memories around the holidays. I got you.

Holiday Make-A-Face Stickers

A super affordable, minor cleanup, fun holiday activity? Sign me up! We love these stickers for every holiday! There are several versions on Amazon, there are several in each package, and the prices range, but they are usually around $10 per package. These are a staple in our house at all times throughout the year, and I honestly find it therapeutic to do them with the kids. Also, pro-tip, keep these around and take them when you go to a restaurant. It gives you at least 10 minutes of uninterrupted time.

Holiday Scavenger Hunt

Think really simple on this one unless you want to get extra for this, then go for it, but we keep these very simple. I get out a piece of paper and write down 10-15 holiday things I can see in the house. Then I give it to the kids to go crazy. They find all of the items and mark them off as they find them. We have even done this with different holiday movies. Write down pretty generic things you would see in most holiday movies and, boom, activity done. There are some pre-built templates on Etsy, but it is super easy (and let’s not forget free) to make your own!

Holiday song dance party

We love a good dance party in our house, so this one is a no-brainer for us! Make your own with your favorite holiday songs, or there are several pre-built playlists on all of the music streaming platforms or even on Youtube for free.

Mini marshmallow snow ball toss

Think beer pong-esque game, but with mini marshmallows. We tend to always have mini marshmallows in the house during the winter months because hot chocolate isn’t complete without them. The simplest way to do this is with two teams and set out however many plastic cups you want for each team. I put a handful of marshmallows in front of each team and have them take turns trying to get the marshmallows in the cups. You can set different point values on the cups or have the first person hit each cup as the winner. A choose your own adventure kind of game!

You don’t have to spend a bunch of money or time to create a bit of magic this holiday season. Let us know if you try any of these no-fuss activities this season.
