Meet Our Indianapolis Moms: Miranda Tworek

1

Hey, Indy Moms! Miranda here. Avett, my two-year-old, calls me Mom. I’ve been an Indiana resident my entire life. I grew up on the very near Westside of Indianapolis, spent a quality four years in Bloomington (Go Hoosiers!), and my husband and I reside on the Southside of Indy…for now. We just sold our first house flip and are ready to move wherever the next great deal takes us.

By day, I’m a school social worker. I get the incredible opportunity to teach, empower, and advocate for my students and their families. Mental health awareness is a large part of my family’s day-to-day life because my husband, Isaiah, is also a medical social worker. We joke that Avett will either be set for life or completely sick of us after growing up with two mental health professionals for parents. I’ll probably send him off to college, shouting after him, “remember to use your coping skills when things get stressful and communicate your feelings calmly to your roommate!”

Evenings and weekends I get to be the home renovation queen, another true passion. My neighbors aren’t surprised anymore to see me with a paintbrush or saw in hand in the driveway, my toddler right beside me learning. When we’re not tiling, building, or painting something, you will most likely find the three of us hiking, camping, or on a body of water.

I found Indianapolis Moms by accident and have been writing for almost two years. It’s been an eye-opening experience to learn alongside other local moms and share with this community some of the highs and lows of my parenting journey.

I’m a true believer in the power of family and spending time together, my husband and I would buy an RV and travel the country if we didn’t have beloved grandparents here in Indiana. I love to eat out, wake up early, read, swim, bike, and be outside. Real estate investment podcasts are my current obsession. I’m the person who brings their child with them everywhere, and I truly believe that becoming a parent changed me in the best ways.

I’m a working mom who would stay home in a heartbeat. My toddler is feisty, sarcastic, funny, empathetic, energetic, athletic, tiring, stubborn, wonderful, and he teaches me more about myself every minute that I get to spend with him. He is the epitome of joy and my greatest accomplishment.

I have many interests, talents, and passion projects, just one of those being MOM.

Miranda
Miranda is a first time mom to 1-year-old Avett. She works full time as a social worker and admits that this professional work influences her parenting style and blog content greatly! Especially because her husband is a social worker as well. Miranda and her family live on the near south side of Indianapolis in the fixer upper they have recently gutted and renovated. Miranda was born and raised, for the most part, in Indianapolis. In her free time you can find her with her family trying a new Indy brewery or restaurant, or showing Avett one of the many great things about Indianapolis as a city! Miranda also enjoys yoga, hiking, traveling, swimming, writing, and sharing every experience with her family.
